dc.description.abstract |
In celebrating/observing this year’s International Archives Week
6th – 10th June, 2022 themed #ArchivesAreYou, the University of
Mines and Technology (UMaT) Library chose “Tarkwa: our mines,
our railways” as a subtheme.
Tarkwa (Tacquah) is a mining town noted for the mining of gold.
In this presentation, we take a trip from UMaT through the town
focusing on some notable places that make Tarkwa a mining town.
We continue the trip (by road) to Takoradi because there is no coach
service between the two towns, making whistle stops along the way.
On arrival at Takoradi, we share some of the extant materials we found
in the offices of the Ghana Railway Company Ltd. (GRCL). |
