Abstract:
The study investigated the factors causing high labor turnover in mining support companies in
Ghana using Engineers and Planners (E&P) Co. Ltd., Tarkwa site as the case study Organization.
The study adopted a quantitative research design and simple random sampling techniques and
collected data from 384 respondents using questionnaire as the data collection instrument. SPSS
analytical tool was used to perform the data analysis and presentation of results were done using
statistical tables, charts, and inferential analysis. The correlation analysis reveals a significant
negative relationship between labor turnover and organizational performance. The regression
analysis further shows that labor turnover predicted approximately 24.4% of the change in
organizational performance. With a positive and significant relationship between labout turnover
and organisational, the findings is undetermined but underscore the importance of addressing
organizational, personal, and performance-related factors to mitigate turnover and enhance
employee retention. The study recommends that, it is important to implement measures that
enhance job security, as respondents strongly agreed that adequate job security reduces turnover.
Future researchers can also investigate the relationship between employee assertiveness and job
security. This could also provide valuable insights, as respondents moderately agreed that being
assertive at meetings makes them feel unsafe on the job.
